The short answer is no, but as we guess some of you may have missed the announcement on here and Twitter/Facebook, we have now moved from broadcasting live/recording on a Tuesday night, to a Friday instead, still at 9pm.
On the plus side Episode 12 will be an hour long show on Friday 25th May with a special guest.
Come join us live at 9pm this Friday on Spreaker.com as it should be a great show as we already have a good lineup of news and developments to talk about. And in the meantime follow us on Twitter and find us on Facebook (a like would also be awesome) to keep up to date with what’s happening. (more…)
First off, let’s just do a quick reminder that we have now moved the show’s live broadcast day to Fridays at 9pm. So there is no show being made tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd May) but we are recording again this Friday 25th May.
As always, all of our previous episodes are always available over at spreaker.com/thegamescast.
Mean time we’re working on getting our YouTube channel working, and the first stuff we’ll post on there will be the old episodes. The eventual aim will be to have each new episode going up as well as some vlogs from us in between each show. Down the road we’ll bring you extra video content from events we go to like Eurogamer later this year.
For many years the UK multiplayer gaming scene has lagged behind our comrades in the US who have benefitted from services like MLG for a number of years. We have had a few companies and startups come and go but none have been able to make a lasting impression and have teh staying power to consistently deliver a platform for competitive multiplayer gaming.
This is something that is about to change with the launch of XBLG Hub and we at The Games Cast cannot wait!
XBLG Hub is a centralised service offering a range of different ways for multiplayer gamers and clans to connect, organise matches and tournaments, blog about their escapades and build up a reputation as the best! The beauty of the system however is that anyone who wants to game online can use XBLG Hub to find like-minded players and get some gaming sessions going, either just with friends, by invitation only or open to all comers.
Let’s start with the usual shenanigans and give you the link to Episode 11 to make sure you’ve heard the aural pleasure that is The Games Cast.
S02E11 – Pick and error, any error!
Heard it? Good!
For those of you that thought “screw that I’ll listen later!”, lets do a quick recap.
This week we went over the Diablo 3 errors and player problems, including Blizzard’s assertion that the game should really only be played online; Sony’s continued sales problems and Jack Tretton’s stance on blocking pre-owned games at a console level; GAME Australia’s fate and Jade Raymond’s desire to get games to grow up.
So if you haven’t listened yet that should get your juices going. Don’t forget that we still want to hear your comments about the topics covered!
Ever heard of Error 37?
If not, you will do tonight as we’ll be talking always online gaming with the Diablo 3 issues to kick start the discussion about the pros and cons of gaming that requires an always on connection. If you’ve got an opinion make sure you tweet us @thegamescast, drop a message on our Facebook wall, or join in with the chat live during the show via Spreaker.com.
In addition we’ll be covering:
- Sony’s stance on pre-owned gaming
- Touchy-feely controllers
- Activision paying out lots of money
- Free BF3 servers on the brink of extinction
- Jade Raymond wants games to grow up
That lot should keep us going for a while!
Things have moved quite quickly here at The Games Cast in the first 10 episodes of Season 2 and we are now looking at changing our game to bring you guys more and better content; at least that’s the idea.
It’s all stuff we’ve talked about here and there on the show or on Twitter/Facebook, but we’ll save the full details for Episode 11. If you have no idea what we’re talking about because this is the first time you’ve found this site, to make things simple get yourself over to this page and have a listen to what we do.
There is one idea that we haven’t talked about at all, anywhere, publically, but if all comes good then it’ll be a big development in giving you lovely lot a chance to directly influence the show. By “if all comes good” we mean assuming that Paul, Phil and Duncan can agree on how to work it properly. It is however an exciting development for us!
The show that almost never was
In somewhat of a surprise to us all here at TGC Towers, Episode 10 is available now for your listening pleasure!
Why are we surprised? During the broadcast last night we noticed some strange things happening with the Spreaker website with a number of people unable to connect to it, including our very own Phil and Paul. Despite this we plowed on with the show only to be greeted by a lovely “we under maintenance” screen when we stopped recording. We assumed this meant that the show had been lost to the ether only to be greeted by the sight of Episode 10 sitting happily on our show page the following morning.
Despite the fact that it is some 270 minutes long it is our normal show, it just decides to loop play about six times over in one file, the show is up in its multiple entirety at the following places:
The home of the show, Spreaker.com - http://goo.gl/NOyLj (download and listen again)
Download and subscribe via iTunes - http://goo.gl/9IbmY
Soundcloud - http://goo.gl/0m264
And if you enjoy the show we’d really appreciate a follow on Spreaker and Twitter or a like on Facebook. Or all three if you’re so inclined. Let us know you’re out there and listening to make it even easier for you to keep in contact with us when the show isn’t on. You can always email us too on show [at] thegamescast [dot] com.
What’s coming up in Episode 10
While it doesn’t feel like we’ve been running for 10 weeks, we do hit double figures for episodes of Season 2 of The Games Cast tomorrow night; or tonight if you’re reading this Tuesday daytime; or the other day if you’re reading this from Wednesday onwards….
What was I trying to say?!?
Nope, it’s gone.
Dragging this post back on topic, here’s a quick rundown on some of the things we’ll be running through from 9pm Tuesday 8 May:
- A $99 Xbox 360 for the US market, and the banning of Microsoft/Xbox in Germany.
- Leaked WiiU titles.
- Miyamoto’s opinion on the PS Vita
- Elder Scrolls Online
Now for the boring bit where we give you links and stuff.
You can listen to the show live from 9pm via our Spreaker.com page where you can also listen back to all previous episodes from Season 2, including the preview shows we did. During the show there will be a chat room open for you to voice your opinions about the topics raised and get them included in the show. Spreaker also have Apps for iOS and Android so you can even listen on the move.
We’ll also be signed in to Twitter and Facebook during the show so make sure you’ve give us a follow and a like to keep in touch.
But if you just can’t make it for the live broadcast, have no fear, because you can always catch up on Spreaker, iTunes or Soundcloud.
