Five Journalists + Just Dance 2 = Shocking

We’ve uploaded some pictures from the Eurogamer Expo to our new Flickr account. Apologies for those photos which include me trying to dance. Which I can’t do.

Watch out for episode 9 / 9.5 / 10 (delete whichever is appropriate) during which we’ll give a full on run down of ouor experiences and thoughts from the Eurogamer Expo.

In the meantime though, enjoy the pics.

Update:

Charlotte has also uploaded a video of Paul (Looney) attempting to dance during his pre-show play of Dance Central. Shake that booty.

Post to be updated shortly.

Good lord, it’s a new post and a new podcast too!

The new episode of the this very podcast was recorded on Bank Holiday Monday with just Phil and Duncan hosting as Paul unfortunately could not make it due to work commitments.

There’s too much to list it all but have no fear Duncan and Phil still manage to talk about the Xbox Live Price Rise, Eurogamer Expo 2011, the PS3 hack as well as SirAlan fitting in over 10 games this month plus all the usual competitions.

Probably the shortest episode ever, until we started talking.

Well, July is the quietest month for the gaming industry, nothing ever really happens. However, then we got stuck in and covered so much we still filled nearly ninety minutes of podcast goodness. We discussed, amongst lots of other stuff, the real reason for a 4GB Xbox Slim and the madness behind Starcraft 2 pricing. There’s also a enquiry into why Split/Second has sold so badly and the Retro Tunes competition, sponsored by those lovely people at Boomerang Rentals, rolls over for a second month – the prize fund is now 4200 MS Points (or PSN/Wii equivalent) – can you guess what game theme tune has been covered by the One-Ups?

Lud’alan returns with a plethora of titles, well actually there’s two good titles, two middle-of-the-road and one quite frankly disturbing titles. For your own viewing pleasure these are the games covered this month:

Boidster’s Unique One-Off Monthly competition returns again with a brand new competition and as always the brilliant prize of 2 months Priority Rental Package from Boomerang Rentals – this time though entries need to be placed in the brand spanking new forum! If it was your name that Duncan picked then PLEASE get in touch. Next month it’ll be a lot easier to contact the winners as you’ll be on the forum already.

Boidsters Caption Competition: A link to the TGC Forum

Then the second RoundTable kicks off and we rake over such brilliant topics as Halo Reach singleplayer and Boidster reveals the greatest surprise ever, he won’t be buying Halo Reach. We also discuss the American NPD results for the past few months. As well as all that we cover the loveliness that is the new website and forum, and our brand new TGC Radio nights.

Paul’s competition also rolls over and there’s still the original T-Shirt up for grabs! Just send in your answers, first though listen to the podcast and find the question. You could win your choice of GamerPrint t-shirt, including the lovely new Red Dead Redemption T!

Last but not least we discuss what we’ve been playing over the past month, in a month where we all managed to get some gaming done. Awesomesauce.

We all use them!

For the first time since starting the Retro Tunes competition we have a rollover! This means that the current prize is a whoppingly gorgeous 4200 MS Points (or PSN/Wii equivalent).

The competition, which is lovingly sponsored by Boomerang Rentals, is as simple as simple can be. All you have to do is listen to the podcast, see if you can work out which game theme-tune has been reworked by the guys over at The One-Ups, and then send us your answer. (There’s some more terms and conditions over on the competitions page.)

Listen to Episode 6 to hear the competition in full, or if you’ve got time to spare, hang around for Episode 7 which will hopefully hit the airwaves this very evening.

So, what are you waiting for? Or is this just a game of chicken and you’re all just waiting until the prize fund gets very big. Surely 4200 MS Points is tempting?

UPDATE: Episode 7 is now live. Click here to read all about it.

Haz forum?

As we move towards an ever increasing target of world domination we have now integrated a super-duper little forum. Soon we’ll have some wordpress to phpBB integration and it’ll be all whizz-bang and stuff.

It’s still in a sort of Beta mode as we try and plug some holes and fill some gaps. We’ve added some default forum areas, including one specifically for TGC Radio, where you can send in your requests for the shows ahead of time.

Head off to http://www.thegamescast.com/forum – or just click on the little FORUM button on the navigation bar at the top.

We’ve already got our first spammer, and there’s an excellent game of keyword->image.  Awesomesauce.

E3 2010

It’s that crazy time of year again. Nope, not E3 itself – it’s the post-E3 come-down. This month’s GamesCast is an all out E3 Come-Down special as we poke and prod at the three main events this year. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft all come under the microscope and we leave no stone unturned as we discuss Kinect, Playstation Move and the Nintendo 3DS, as well as all the game news and the exclusives, exclusives, exclusives.

As well as all that there’s the usual three competitions, including a brand new Retro Tune to guess, courtesy ofThe One-Ups and a new caption for Boidster’s caption comp; both the Retro Tunes and Boidsters comps are sponsored by Boomerang Rentals. Paul returns with his competition – sponsored by Gamer Print. Fingers crossed someone get’s it this month!

What do you think?

After many months of hard craft we can finally release our brand new website. Keeping the same familiar style as our old website this new wordpress-based site allows us to focus more on the podcast as well as enabling us to do the odd rant or article as and when we want to.

Each post features various social media options including the ability to tweet all about it yourself. There’s also a Facebook link, if you’re so inclined.

At the footer of the site the widgets faithfully recreated the old three column style of the old website with all the faithful sections making a comeback. Including the latest Frugal Gaming posts and gaming news from TotallyGN.com. There’s also a brand new TGC Radio widget which will flurry into action whenever we’re transmitting. As well as that there’s a live comments feed of all the latest lovely stuff you’ve said.

We can also post the caption competition with the website as well as providing more and more content to our lovely listeners. Plus, if the wonderful offerings of a brand new site wasn’t enough, you can leave lovely comments as well. For example, you could tell us what you think of the lovely new design, just down there.
